Steve Alexandrowski has spent more than 25 years working with successful families who have moved past the accumulation phase and are now focused on what their wealth is actually for. As a Partner at GEM Asset Management, which he founded in 2001, Steve’s work goes well beyond investment management. It accounts for family dynamics, legacy, and the psychological weight that significant wealth carries.
Before founding GEM, Steve worked as an analyst at Dixon Odom Financial Advisors and with Regions Financial Corporation, both in Birmingham, Alabama. Before that, he spent several years teaching American History and English at the junior high and high school level, an experience that shaped how he approaches client relationships to this day. Steve has always seen financial planning as a teaching profession, one built on helping people understand something complex well enough to act on it with confidence.
Steve holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Hillsdale College, not a finance degree, and considers it the best preparation he ever had for this work. Drawing on history, biography, and philosophy, he helps clients think through decisions that numbers alone cannot resolve. After 25 years, his clients trust him not just with their portfolios, but with the questions that keep them up at night. He explores many of those questions in his Substack, The Edge of Possibility.
Outside the office, Steve is an avid reader, a self-described poor golfer, and loves traveling with his wife and daughters. He also enjoys watching his nephews compete in sports.
